Silversmithing I: Hammered Sterling Silver and Copper Earrings

Introduction to Silversmithing: Hammered Sterling Silver and Copper Earrings.
Class members will learn introductory metalsmithing skills including, hammering, cutting, hole drilling, filing, sanding, finishing, patina's and balling up sterling silver wire. We will also cover two different styles of ear wire. Each class member will be provided with enough metal to make at least one pair of earrings in class, and three or more pairs can be made with the supplies provided (depending on the size of the earrings made). This type of earring would be sold retail for $45.00-75.00.
Included in this price is a Basic Metalsmithing tool set which includes:
Chasing Hammer, Steel Bench Block, Micro Torch, Soldering Block,
Metal Shears, Twist drill, Steel Wool, Metal Sand Paper Assortment,
Cross-lock tweezers, Ruler, Metal files, and misc items used in class.
 
If a student already owns some of the above listed items, a reduced fee can be arranged.
 
Students are asked to bring in Miscellaneous Hammers which can be pitted and rusty, which will create an interesting texture on the earrings.
If each student already owns a set of Wireworking Tools which include a Needle nose pliers,Chain nose pliers and Wire cutters, please bring those along to class.
 
It is suggested that Students have wireworking knowledge or skill before taking this class.
 
 
 
 
 
Each Student is required to provide their own safety glasses/goggles.

This class is a requirement in order to take further metalsmithing classes.
